I'm a family photographer based just up the hill in Caterham, and Purley is one of the towns I photograph in most. It sits at the point where South London gives way to chalk downland, which means you can be somewhere that looks like open countryside about five minutes from your front door.

Sessions are built around your family rather than a list of poses. We take our time, let the children set the pace, and the honest, happy moments in between are the ones you end up keeping.

Chalk downland, minutes from home.

Riddlesdown is the closest bit of proper open country, all chalk grassland and long views, right on Purley's doorstep. Kenley Common gives you wide grass and big sky, and Happy Valley at Coulsdon is a beautiful, gentle valley walk when you want something further from the road. Prefer to stay in? Your own home and garden make wonderfully warm photos.

Common questions

Where do you photograph families in Purley?

Riddlesdown is the easiest escape from the town, with chalk grassland and long views right on the doorstep. Kenley Common gives you wide open grass, and Happy Valley at Coulsdon is lovely when you want a proper walk away from the road. Your own home and garden work beautifully too. We choose the spot on a quick planning call.

Do you cover Kenley, Coulsdon and Sanderstead?

Yes. I photograph across Purley, Kenley, Coulsdon, Sanderstead and down into Croydon, as well as back over the Surrey border. I'm based in Caterham, a few minutes up the A22, and travel within 30 miles is included in every session.

How much is a family photoshoot in Purley?

Sessions start at £299 for The Story: about two hours at one location, with 30 to 40 fully edited photos. The Whole Day is £509. Prices are upfront, with no add-ons and nothing to pay to enquire.

Can we do the session at home instead?

Absolutely, and plenty of families do, especially with babies and very young children. Home sessions are warm and unhurried, and we usually work in one or two rooms wherever the light is best. You don't need to tidy the whole house.
