I photograph maternity and newborn the lifestyle way. No props, no posed wraps, no studio. Just your family and your new arrival, in your own home, photographed the way the days feel: soft light, slow mornings, tiny fingers curled around yours.
Maternity doesn't have to happen indoors. If you fancy fresh air, we can take your session out into the Surrey hills; the valleys around Caterham are on our doorstep and the evening light out there is worth the walk. Same price, same unhurried pace.
A maternity session, or pregnancy photoshoot, is while you're still pregnant. Most people come to me somewhere between 28 and 36 weeks, when the bump is properly there and you can still walk across a field without regretting it. You don't have to be expecting your first, and you don't have to come alone: partners and older children are welcome, and the photographs are usually better for having them in. Expecting twins, or been told to take it easy? Say so when we chat and we'll go earlier and stay closer to home.
A newborn session is once the baby has arrived, at home, usually in the first few weeks while they are still curled up and sleepy. There's no deadline, though. Three weeks old and three months old both photograph beautifully. We keep the date loose, because babies don't book dates, and on the day we work around feeds, naps and cuddles. You barely notice the camera; you just get to be together while I catch it.
Bump to Baby is both, booked together for £549 rather than £648. Same two sessions, one conversation, and the newborn date stays open until they turn up.

Yes, it's photographed while you're still pregnant, usually somewhere between 28 and 36 weeks, when the bump is clearly there and you're still comfortable moving around. Second and third babies count just as much, and you don't have to come on your own. Partners and older children are welcome, and they often make the best frames. If you're expecting twins, or have been advised to take things gently, tell me and we'll book earlier and stay close to home.
Most families have theirs in the first few weeks, while the baby is still sleepy and curled up, but there's no cut-off and a three-month-old photographs just as beautifully. The practical answer is to get in touch before your due date so I can pencil you in loosely, then we fix the day once you're home and settled.
Yes, for both sessions, and I'd encourage it. A maternity session with a toddler pressing their face against the bump is a better photograph than a careful portrait of you alone. Nobody has to be in every frame, and I always take some of just you as well.
